Program Information/Mission
Admission to Program
High School graduate with HS GPA 2.7 or higher, or equivalent OR 9 credit hours of college level classes completed with a grade of C or better.
ICC grade point average (GPA) of a 2.5 or above.
Verified Illinois Department of Public Health Registry as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) prior to starting nursing program courses.
Completion of ICC Biology Placement Test with minimum score to place into BIOL 205 or completion of an equivalent college biology course with a grade of C or better.
Requirements upon Acceptance
Drug screen, fingerprint criminal background check, physical exam and immunizations.
Documentation of current CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider or American Red Cross (ARC) Professional Rescuer and BLS Provider is required. This CPR certification must remain current throughout student enrollment within the health career program.
Completion of HESI A2 RN Admission Assessment.
Required attendance at the Nursing Program Admission Orientation and at the Nursing Student Orientation Day.
Recommendations
One year of High School anatomy and physiology.
One year of High School biology.
One year of High School chemistry.
Completion of BIOL 205 Anatomy & Physiology I and BIOL 206 Anatomy & Physiology II prior to admission to the program.
Accreditation Information
Graduates are eligible to take the National Council State Board of Nursing (NCSBN) Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and may apply for licensure to practice nursing as a professional Registered Nurse (RN).

Additional Program Information
Transfer of comparable credit from other institutions may be evaluated and accepted toward meeting requirements of ICC Nursing Program's general education courses. Transfer credit is not automatically accepted for occupational or vocational "program courses"; demonstration of proficiency or competency is required. Credit is not given for work experience.
To Remain in and Graduate from the Program
To progress in the program and graduate, a student must earn a grade of C or better in all required general education courses and nursing program courses.
A student who has (a) received a grade lower than C in the first semester nursing course RNRS 110, or (b) received an unsatisfactory grade in the RNRS 110 clinical and or lab component, or who has (c) withdrawn, will need to reapply for admission to the program.
A student who has successfully completed RNRS 110 and who has (a) received a grade lower than C in RNRS 118, RNRS 216, or RNRS 217, or (b) received an unsatisfactory grade in the RNRS 118, RNRS 216, or RNRS 217 clinical and or lab component, or who has (c) withdrawn, will need to meet readmission eligibility requirements of the nursing program and will be required to take the re-entry nursing course RNRS 255 or RNRS 098.
A student may be readmitted to the program only once and may repeat a nursing course only one time.
